Rebranding of café-bar Cusco. Thesis project.

According to Inca mythology, Sun God Inti, seeing the sadness in which the humans of the earth had fallen, ordered his child, Manco Capac, to civilize the world and build an empire that would worship the sun. Inti, gave his child a golden staff, which had the power of finding the ideal location. After many days of wandering the peruvian mountains, the emperor sank the golden staff to the ground. Taking this as a sign of fertility, he built his capital city at that spot and named it Cusco.

The Inca cross, Chakana, is a symbol appearing in many Inca temples and every day items. It consists of 3 levels, the first symbolizing the underworld, the second the current life and third the upper world of the gods. At the center there is a hole that represents the city of Cusco, the Inca center of their empire and the cycle of life.

The Inca had developed a unique techinque in textiles called tocapu. These textiles, made from alpaca/llama fibers and natural dyes had almost the same value as gold. The Inca didn't have a written language, however, recent studies suggest that these unique patterns may be a form of visual communication.
